I have always loved food but my real passion for food started when I was living in res at university and I couldn't stomach the food. I really began to appreciate good, even just decent, food. My interest in food has only escalated since then. When I was young I baked with my mom a lot and then as I got older I began to cook meals with my dad. It's easy to say that food and preparing food is my love language.

Hi, my name is Amber - Amber Crookes and I love to cook.
During lockdown I didn't know what else to do with myself but cook and try new things. My skills developed and I got more and more confident with my cooking skills as the days went on. But, I thought that there could always be more to cooking than just throwing a whole lot of ingredients together.
Then began my veggie and herb garden. I always thought that I would never be able to grow one because I was purely not a 'green thumb' , but some family friends started a veggie garden which then inspired me to give it a go. On 10 June 2020 the garden began. Since then I only use the veggies and herbs that I grow to prepare my food. I have fallen in love with cooking from your own garden and the whole process that goes with it. The garden sparked a new interest of sourcing all my food sustainably and organically - which I am about to try!
So here I present with you with my food journal.
In here you will find; all of my tried and tested recipes, do's and don'ts, tips and tricks and any unfiltered, totally raw reviews.
