Caramelizing - seeds, nuts and anything that your heart desires

By caramelizing different ingredients it will will elevate your salad to level that is crisp and taste. Caramelizing seeds or nuts will add sweetness and a crunch to your salad and only takes a few moments to make!


When caramelizing you can use sugar or honey, but I use brown sugar.

 

Caramelizing


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 tsp salted butter

Method


  1. In a small pan on medium heat, add the sugar

  2. Stir every so often to just keep the sugar from burning in one area and not even cooking in another.

  3. The sugar will dissolve and become a golden brown

  4. Only add the butter in small pieces once all the sugar is dissolved and take off the heat. Mix in the butter until combined.

  5. Throw in the seeds or nuts and mix until they are all coated.

  6. Spoon pieces straight into the salad or place on baking paper until cool and it is hard.

  7. Place the pan directly into warm water to that cleaning will be easier and the caramel won't be so hard.
